Service Manager
Gene Steffy Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge
Fremont, Nebraska

"Hello, my name is James Campbell and I am the service manager for Gene Steffy Chrysler – Jeep – Dodge in Fremont, Nebraska."

"As a CAP graduate I have found on many occasions my experience with the CAP program and the dealerships have helped me develop in my career as well as help me grow as a person. I am convinced that the CAP program is what had given me the fundamental skills and experience that I needed to succeed further in the automotive industry.

When I began the CAP program I was practically new to the automotive industry and I had to rely heavily on the experience that I gained from in-class and dealership co-operative time. Upon graduation I found that I was already established as a technician in my dealership and that I had the tools to be successful as a career technician.

When I began the CAP program I also had higher aspirations to move up in the automotive industry. After working as a technician for nearly 2 years I felt it was time to move up a bit. I enrolled in a 4-year automotive bachelor or science in Automotive Technology program and was able to transfer all my CAP credits allowing me to graduate from that program in less than 2 years.

Upon graduation I had offers to work at several reputable manufacturers but found myself stuck between two positions, both with Chrysler in Michigan. I ultimately accepted a position with the STAR Center technical assistance hotline with the drivability group and enjoyed that tremendously. It was just over a year when I felt that I would feel more comfortable moving back to the small-town atmosphere and I accepted a Service Advisor position at the same dealer I was a technician at previously. I went on to not only be an advisor but also a Mopar Speedshop specialist before ultimately accepting a Service Management position where I am today.

The reason I am sharing my story with you today is to let you know that the CAP program is only the beginning. Besides myself, I also employ 2 other CAP graduates as technicians that exemplify what the program is all about. CAP teaches you to be a competent, patient, and most importantly a productive technician who loves the job.

If you are thinking about being a CAP student I can personally vouch for the quality of education that is provided. This is by FAR the best decision you will ever make in your career.

If you are thinking about hiring a CAP student, just look at the cost of training a CAP student compared to training a tech with the same programs in Chrysler’s facilities. You cannot find a better deal than the CAP program. Hands down!

My story began with the CAP program and has taken me through some wonderful experiences… what could CAP do for you?"
